From a User... "A man
my husband works with says you won't believe how well it works, and my
17 year old is very anxious to try this out. They love to go
steelhead fishing and can't wait."

| From a User... "I used your recipe this past summer and it worked great. It was better than "Power Bait" or "Sierra Gold". The only problem I had was crawdads. They love it. I have to keep it off the bottom." | |
| From a Friend... "You gave the sample bait to my husband, but when he saw it, he didn't think much of it. So - he handed it to me and said "try it". Well, the laugh was on him, because I caught 3 to one over his catch. Guess you know who'll be downloading the recipe." | |
| From my Son... "My buddies' mouths dropped open when they watched fish actually swim past their bait and zero in on mine." | |
| From my Neighbor... "My family loves this bait. My wife and children are no longer squeamish about baiting their own hooks. Because it's so easy for them to use, I get more personal fishing time." | |

The story behind my Home by Noon fish bait recipe
In the summer of 1971, I took a week's vacation for some much needed R&R at our family cabin in the Uinta Mountains near Park City, Utah. Up the mountain from our cabin is a small hidden lake that is stocked by the Utah Fish and Game Commission every spring. Although fishing at Hidden Lake can be an "iffy" experience, late in the summer when the fish grow larger I could usually catch some pretty good meals. On Sunday, my first day of fishing, about 12 anglers were trying their luck and some did fairly well. However, one man fishing alone on the opposite side of the lake caught more fish than the rest of us put together. He didn't stay long, caught his limit early, and was on his way home before noon. On Monday the other fishermen had returned back to the city and I had the lake to myself, except for the mystery fisherman. Once again, he caught his limit early in the day and headed down the mountain. On Tuesday I arrived early and claimed the magic spot on the bank that favored the mystery fisherman with an early and abundant catch. I caught a few fish, but the action was certainly not as hot as it seemed to be for the infamous lone angler. At about 10:00 a.m. the lone fisherman showed up, quietly took the spot I had yesterday, and proceeded to pull fish out left and right. Once again, he caught his limit before noon and began packing up his gear. I couldn't stand it any longer. I quickly threw my tackle together and timed my exit so we would meet on the way down the mountain. When our paths crossed, I introduced myself and complimented him on his fishing skill. Before I could ask, he told me he was using a family fish bait recipe that he periodically made in his kitchen. I desperately wanted to know what was in his bait, but I didn't have the guts to come right out and ask. We parted at the end of the trail and I spent the rest of the day, and most of the night trying to imagine what he could find in his kitchen to make such a killer fish bait. As I reviewed our meeting in my mind, I realized that he had not told me his name. Wednesday was a replay. Just the two of us on the lake, with Mr. "Home by Noon" reeling in the fish while I tried every bait and trick I knew to keep up with him. I lost, so I buried my pride, walked around the lake and asked if I could try some of his bait. He seemed pleased that I asked and handed me a small plastic sandwich bag full of what looked like Play Dough. Some of the bait was a light brown, some yellow and some red. He told me that he usually started the day with the basic mix (light brown) and only changed to another color if the fishing started to slow down. I walked a respectful distance away, molded some of his bait around my hook and cast off. Within two minutes, I had my first fish, and the action never stopped. When I noticed that he was leaving, I walked over and returned the unused bait. He seemed a little preoccupied, but said "Thanks, I hope you enjoyed the bait" before storing it in his creel. As he walked away I wanted to scream at the top of my lungs "Please - what is in your bait?" I kept my mouth shut and was surprised when he turned around and asked if I'd like to talk awhile. As we sat in the shade by the side of the lake, he began speaking. He told me about his wife who passed away several years ago, and his only son that perished in Viet Nam. He didn't actually say so, but I understood he and his son often fished together. He paused for a moment, then smiled and asked, "How would you like to have the recipe for my fish bait?" He continued before I could answer. "I've decided to pass it down to you" he said with a smile. I tried to say something appropriate, but again, he started talking. "Here's the deal" he said. "If you're smart enough to remember the recipe until you get down the mountain, and I believe you are, you've got to promise to remember me every time you use it". He then told me to get ready, and without pausing he rattled off a list of ingredients, approximate proportions, and general mixing instructions for his killer fish bait. I mentally recorded it, trying not to miss any details as the words flew by. He then stood up, shook my hand and walked away. Later that day, after I had committed the recipe to pencil and paper, I realized I still didn't know his name. Over the years my family has tested, refined, and tried to improve on the original formula. But nothing has consistently worked better for us than the simple basic recipe the "mystery fisherman" shared with me one summer afternoon in 1971. I don't think you'll be disappointed in the results of this recipe. My Home by Noon fish bait formula uses easily obtainable kitchen ingredients, stores in your freezer, and portions easily. Download today and take it fishing tomorrow. At the time of this writing (February 2008) I've been told that this recipe has been around before, but to be honest, I haven't come across it. Oh, and when you leave in the morning, don't forget to tell your wife that you'll be home by noon!
